In response to popular demand, a new postgraduate unit will be offered for the first time this semester presenting methods of “Data Mining”. These methods have been fruitfully applied in commerce and in the banking and insurance industries. The unit is STAT828 and will be delivered by Dr Ayse Bilgin and A/Prof Julian Leslie. It will be based on the commercial data mining package Clementine (SPSS) as well as the powerful freeware statistical package R.
